Hotlanta
Article posted on Tuesday, June, 26th, 2007 at 11:26 amNot a very original title, I know, but Atlanta has been living up to its nickname so far this month. Hot and dry!! I have not written since my anti-longhorn commentary so I thought I should just write a little update. There really is not much to say, Annabelle is growing so fast, Geneen and I are worn out (Geneen more than me), and the job, as Carlos is fond of saying, “is nothing but work!” I am looking forward to going to Houston in two weeks (actually we will be spending most of our time in the Woodlands and Conroe) for my interview with the Sadler Clinic. Geneen, Annabelle and I are looking forward to seeing Mimi and Papaw next week. They will be stopping in for a few days as they work their way up to Virginia to pick up my nephews. I miss hockey! Anyone else out there other than Geneen feel the same way? Well, free agency does begin on July 1st, so we have that to look forward to. It’s amazing; I never imagined a time in my life where I would have more interest in hockey than in football. Hockey players, at least the ones in Atlanta, are much more accessible than NFL players. They seem more like average people to me. Heck, one of the members of the Atlanta Thrashers, Jim Slater, took the time to speak with me about the playoff push in 2006. Nice guy. But, as the wise Geddy Lee once said, “heroes are not for talking to, they are for idolizing.”
