Once Bitten

Article posted on Tuesday, March, 27th, 2007 at 8:11 am

A couple of people e-mailed me to say how much they enjoyed my March 24 post. I appreciate hearing that. And, to answer one friend’s question: I most certainly will not post any entries from high school! Ha ha! (Actually, it might be amusing — to both me and you — so perhaps one of these days I’ll pull out the old journals and see what horrors I can find to entertain you. My teen pain can be your gain. Ha ha!)

Annabelle is still keeping me awake all night. Part of the problem, though, is my reluctance to close my eyes if nobody else is awake to watch her. I feel the need to be awake and can’t sleep soundly knowing nobody is awake — just in case. I am trying to learn the art of sleeping with one eye open. I am not there yet, so I stay awake. Thus, I am exhausted.

During the day, I find myself searching for words, stumbling around and just generally feeling hazy. I am sure some of that is still recovery from surgery, but most of it is just a lack of sleep.

As for the precious bundle of joy, my Mom — her Nana — has remarked on several occasions that she already has a mind of her own. And that she does. She really almost refuses to sleep anywhere but in the arms of one of us — Andy, Mom or me. The Boppy seems to be a reasonable facsimile of us and she will sleep in it from time to time, but I am afraid to walk too far from her when she is in it. I am extraordinarily paranoid.

My tummy hurts less this week than last and, for the first time since before the surgery, I made dinner: My veggie pasta with bread and fresh red grapes. The stuff I make never looks like the amazingly beautiful food my friend Lila and her hubby make though! I am just a Plain Jane kind of gal, I guess.

Dancing… YEAH!

I just have to say, I am not the fan of Clyde Drexler that I thought I’d be. In a surprise change of loyalty, I really like Ian Ziering (not too shocking considering how much I loved 90210 back in the day) and also Apolo Anton Ohno (quite shocking to me, since he bugged me so much during the Olympics — that stupid bandanna always drove me crazy!). Mom said if she had to vote, she’d pick Laila Ali, who I must admit was very good. Andy really loved Joey Fatone. If you’re watching DWtS be sure to post a comment and tell us who you’re cheering for! And, if you aren’t watching — why not!? ;-P

And Finally…

At the moment, one of Jim Carrey’s finest works is on: The masterpiece, Once Bitten. So bad it’s good. I am going to try — try — to put Annabelle in her bassinet. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and have to sleep. Just have to. What are the chances she’ll stay there for more than five minutes? Slim to none.

Photo Updates…

As always, we have the Annabelle Elizabeth collection. This is a collection of all the Annabelle albums I’ve put together so far.

Recent additions to this collection:

This has turned out to be another long post. Until tomorrow, this is the night shift signing off…
