Mama Said There'd Be Days Like These

Classic little clip isn't it? I love it. It's ridiculous and pathetic and hilarious all rolled into one. It's kind of how I feel right now.

Jetlag is almost overcome I think. I lost more than 15 pounds on the Moscow trip. Once I got rehydrated it was about 11. Still damn! Moscow Diet anyone?

They traded Kovalchuk a few days after I got home, adding to an already inexplicably morose household. I am sure jetlag was a major part of it. The worst is that I didn't see this coming. Hossa, I knew would fly, but Ilya. I believed when he said he wanted to stay in Atlanta. Very sad. But there are sadder things in the world, I realize. No really.

It's been a weird transition back. All my dreams are still in Moscow. The weird and wonderful and weirder still place. I hope to return again sooner rather than later. What a trip!

Pictures are in my photo album. Please check them out and, if you feel so inclined, comment. Click for pix.

Thus endeth a very desultory post.

Potpourri For $100

We have to remember: God has a plan for all of us, we just have to believe in it and trust it. That He's in charge. That what is meant to happen, will. That what we hope for isn't always what's meant for us. Or, as my yoga teacher long ago said: Maybe it's not what you want, but what you need. I think about that all the time. Anyway ...

Amidst it all, we are blessed to have family and friends who love and support us. We'd be nothing without them.

The Thrashers did win tonight -- in spectacular fashion. Three players had two goals -- three players could have had hat tricks ... awwww! It almost makes up for all the struggling we've had to do lately. Almost. And I guess that's the value of sport and movies and, seemingly mindless entertainment isn't it?

It's been hard traveling without Annabelle. I don't know what I am going to do when I go to Moscow!

Spokoinoi nochi!

Rolling With Changes

Annabelle and I were playing downstairs this morning. I was multitasking, you know making lunch, putting the dishes away and playing with AEB. Anyway, I was making some noodles on the stove when Annabelle stood up in the middle of the living room and toddled all the way over to me and gave me a big hug around my leg. I couldn't believe it.

She is also learning to use a spoon and a fork. It is a messy business.

My ex-best friend forever, Marian Hossa, had the game winning/series clenching OT goal today for the Penguins (versus the New York Rangers). I miss him! He's been a monster this playoff season. All true Thrasher fans die just a little bit every time he scores a goal for another team.

A Moment of Silence

For Bob Hartley, who took the fall today for the Thrashers' 0-6 start. He didn't deserve it.

What is a Friend?

Do you believe you have to have met someone in person to call them a friend? Please post your comments below. Yes, yes, I know you, my dear readers, and I know you don't like to comment, but I really want to know. So gosh darn it! Click that "comment" button below and tell me what you think. You can do it anonymously if you wish. Don't make me come badger you in person.

Annabelle has gotten so cute. I recommend checking out my photos of her if you haven't done so lately.

Finally, the Thrashers dropped another game on Saturday night. They had victory within sight, but fumbled at the goal line, so to speak. That's five straight losses. Ugh.

Argh!

Oh Thrashers! This is getting ridiculous. Not just losing four of four games this season, but getting shut out 6-0 by a team that had not yet won a game. Congratulations! You now have the worst record in the league.

In other news, Nana and I took Annabelle to The Forum today and strolled her around. She's just too cute -- everyone said so.

Thrashed

Oh Thrashers!

You've dropped three straight games ... and you've only played three games this season!

Marian is hurt, that makes it tough for Slava to carry the entire team on his back, so why not give him a break? If your name is Jim Slater or Ilya Kovalcuk, you're not on the list of shame today. If you are any Thrashers defensemen or Kari Lehtonen (goal No. 1) -- you most certainly are. If I was the coach, I'd make you skate laps.

That is all.

Good things in my life:

Neen, Annabelle and all of our wonderful family and friends; I love you all!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the Atlanta Thrashers are pretty wonderful too!
